Independence Day

Happy Independence Day to all my U.S.A. blog readers. I hope you all have a great holiday. I plan to spend the day relaxing, but might just get some knitting in. I did finish the first of Odet's socks -- check it out here.

I'll not be blogging tomorrow, so everyone have a great . . . and safe . . . weekend. I'll see you all Monday.

Wednesday - HOT

Yes, it's supposed to be even worse than yesterday. At 5:30 this morning it was already 80 degrees.

And today is shaping up to be a very ugly day indeed. Today is a Big Deadline date and judging from what I can see now, there is no way this deadline will be met, courtesy of shoddy work done by contractors. Dealing with it all day will not be pretty.

But I did a bit on my sleeve last night. check it out here. At least I've got my knitting to keep me sane! I hope.

Tuesday

Check out my "Party Animals" page!

It's supposed to be another "Code Red" day today. Good thing my commuter knitting is cotton socks!

And speaking of socks, here it is. This is for my friend, Odet. She wears size 5 shoes because she usually can't find any in smaller sizes, and her ankle is 1.5 inches less in circumference than her foot. I started the ribbing right above the heel so the socks won't bag around her ankles. I showed her the first sock in progress yesterday and she's very excited about it.

And I knitted on the first sleeve of Dalriada last night -- look here.

Because I'm a real sucker for stuff like this, yesterday I ordered Lorna's Laces sock yarn in the custom colorway for Socks Digest subscribers only. It's a mixture of autumn colors and I love autumn colors, so I couldn't really resist . . .

As of right now there are 139 people signed up for my Fearless Fair Isle project. Wow! Tracy has received her wool order for this project -- she's one of the first. I'll look forward to seeing everyone's swatches when y'all get started. There's still time to join -- we won't start knitting until July 29.

Monday

Welcome to a new week and a new month!

Good weekend. The weather was not too humid and we went to Annapolis on Saturday. One of my coworkers had a party at her home, which is right on the Chesapeake Bay. Just walk down half a block and you're on the beach. Apart from being eaten alive by mosquitos, it was a great time!

I did finish the back of Dalriada, so I have the front and the back completed. Here they are. Looking a little mushed up because the top stitches are on holders.

And I turned the heel on my latest sock -- I'll try to take a pic tonight so I can post tomorrow.
