Another Sock Frenzy

Finished my Opal socks at lunchtime yesterday. You can check 'em out on my knitting page. I like how these turned out.

And when I got home last night, there was a package from Martina in Germany with 6, count 'em, 6 skeins of Opal sock yarn. All colors I didn't have. Ahhhhh . . .

Right now I'm on a quest to find dpns in a size smaller than 0 (zero) in a material other than metal. I think my search is in vain, however. There don't seem to be any such animal!

The Heat Goes On . . .

But I knitted an inch on Pentland last night in sauna conditions. I'm six inches away from finishing the body of this bad boy. If it cools down here, I might actually finish it.

So I cast Pentland aside last night and started a toe-up sock in Lorna's Laces Shepherd Sock wool in color "purple iris." I'll give these to my mom. It seems appropriate because she is a gardener and has purple iris in her garden. I love Lorna's Laces -- not nearly as exciting to knit as a Regia or Opal that makes a distinct pattern, but the color combos are beautiful. I'm going to do a bit of a pattern stitch on these -- the one on the blueberry waffle socks -- and see how that looks.

Oh yeah -- there's a photo of it barely started on my knitting page. I'd ask y'all what you think but my comments aren't working. :-)

Feeling cranky cuz I've got a raging sore throat that's undoubtedly due to sucking in pollen.

Even hotter . . .

Yes, it's definitely not good knittin' weather! To amuse myself last night, I took a photo of some of my sock yarn stash.

Still steaming in DC . . .

It's supposed to be hotter still today. I gamely knit away on Pentland last night, with the fan blowing full blast.

I dyed my hair red last night. Check it out.

We're having a heatwave!

Another week.

Still knitting on Pentland -- I've got the front done and am halfway through the back. The weather has turned really warm here the past couple of days which makes it difficult to knit on a heavy wool sweater. I'm thinking I may have to set it aside for a bit.

But I finished one Opal sock and started the second one. Photos on my knitting page.
